The Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology (Dr.JGMUST), one of the five public universities that was ranked second after the University of Juba, has graduated 477 students in various fields of specialisation.
The graduation ceremony, officiated by General Kuol Manyang, Representative of the Chancellor who is also the senior advisor to the president was entrusted by the president to conduct the convocation ceremony on his behalf.
Speaking to the grandaunts on December 21, 2023, at the university campus, Gen. Kuol urged the graduating batches to conduct themselves responsibly and be exemplary to the people, as they carried the best image of the founding father, Dr. John Garang, whose university was named in his memory.
“Since knowledge is power and strength, therefore, the knowledge you gain will enable you to solve problems that exist in our communities. Proof to the people around you in the communities that you have the knowledge to serve them humbly and without bias,” said General Kuol.
The graduates welcomed the message of the general kuol with great applause as they prepared to celebrate their day with their relatives, friends, and parents.
Honorary doctorate in Peace and Development was awarded to the president as a rewardable sign of his hard work toward peace, security and development in the country.
