University Libraries
The Main Library and the smaller College libraries make up the Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology University Library.
The two sections of the main library are housed in the Old and New buildings.
Three partitions and two rooms make up the New Library building. The library’s counter section is located in one of the rooms, while the dean of libraries occupies the other. The three open sections are designated for library patrons and serve as areas for books to be seen and checked out. There are enough overhead lights, 30 chairs, and 14 tables spread between the three partitions. The library’s desktop PCs are all broken.
Science, Management, and Arts/Humanities books make up the majority of the library’s collection.
Comprising two rooms, the Old Library serves as a repository for recently acquired unclassified books and other library materials. The other room is used for new book classification and as the deputy dean of libraries’ office.
Agriculture, Education, Environmental Studies, Science and Technology, Management Sciences, and Law are the colleges that house the other smaller libraries with instructional materials tailored to their respective fields. Although the management of the Main Library organises and inspects the books in the smaller libraries, the Deans have direct authority over their use for teaching in those colleges. There are 22 employees at the main library, organised as follows: the Dean, Deputy Dean, Chief Librarian, Library Assistants, and Library Attendants.
